Field Engineering Project Manager
Type: Full-Time (Onsite)
Contract Duration: 6 Months (Potential Extension)
Location: UK & Ireland (Travel Required)
Travel: 75–100% Onsite During Project Deployments
Our client is seeking a hands-on Field Engineering Project Manager to support the deployment of engineering, automation, and material handling solutions across a large logistics network. Acting as the primary onsite point of contact, you will oversee installations, retrofits, facility upgrades, and greenfield launches, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Site Readiness
- Verify engineering drawings and site layouts prior to deployment
- Identify site constraints, clashes, and installation risks
- Coordinate site readiness activities with engineering and operational teams
- Manage change control documentation and stakeholder approvals
Project Execution & Deployment
- Lead onsite deployment activities and act as the primary project representative
- Coordinate daily activities between contractors, operations, safety, maintenance, and project teams
- Track project progress, quality, risks, and schedule adherence
- Conduct site inspections and resolve issues proactively

Vendor, Material & Systems Coordination
- Manage receipt, tracking, and deployment of project materials and equipment
- Coordinate contractors and internal teams to support installations
- Work with IT teams on infrastructure, network installation, and system integration activities
- Support troubleshooting and issue resolution during deployment
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Support commissioning, site acceptance testing, and go-live activities
- Verify systems meet operational and engineering requirements
- Coordinate punch-list closure and project handover activities
- Review and validate project closeout documentation
Qualifications
Basic Requirements
- Degree or experience in Mechanical, Industrial, Process, Construction Engineering, or a related field
- Experience managing engineering, construction, automation, or deployment projects
- Knowledge of logistics, manufacturing, industrial, or automation environments
- Strong stakeholder, contractor, and vendor management experience
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel extensively across the UK and Ireland

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with logistics, material handling, automation, or distribution centre projects
- Experience supporting retrofits, facility upgrades, and greenfield launches
- Knowledge of commissioning, testing, and operational handovers
- Familiarity with construction site safety and engineering documentation
Working Environment
- Highly site-based role with extensive travel across the UK and Ireland
- Fast-paced environment supporting infrastructure and operational improvement projects
- Collaboration with Engineering, Operations, IT, Safety, Maintenance, and external contractors
- Exposure to large-scale automation, logistics, and facility deployment programmes
