Field Operations Manager - Commercial Heating

📍 Various Locations | 💰 Excellent Salary (£67,000) + Company Vehicle + Benefits

Are you an experienced Commercial Gas Supervisor, Field Operations Manager or Service Manager looking to take the next step in your career?

Our client is a well-established and highly respected provider of commercial mechanical maintenance services, delivering planned and reactive maintenance contracts to Local Authorities, Housing Associations and commercial clients across the Greater London area.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Field Operations Manager to lead a team of Commercial Gas Engineers responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing commercial heating and mechanical plant.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll take ownership of operational performance, engineer productivity, customer satisfaction and contractual compliance. You'll work closely with clients, internal support teams and engineers to ensure contracts are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standards.

You'll be responsible for managing works across a wide range of commercial plant including:

  • Commercial boilers and heating systems
  • Plant rooms
  • Pumps and pressurisation equipment
  • BMS systems
  • Water storage tanks
  • Ventilation systems
  • Commercial catering equipment
  • Legionella compliance
  • Dry risers
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
  • Reactive maintenance and repair contracts

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of Commercial Gas Engineers and specialist subcontractors
  • Ensure all planned and reactive maintenance works are completed safely, on time and in line with contractual KPIs and SLAs
  • Monitor engineer productivity, first-time fix rates, customer satisfaction and operational performance
  • Manage resource planning, scheduling and workload allocation to maximise efficiency
  • Identify training and development needs across the engineering team
  • Work closely with operational support teams to ensure excellent communication with customers throughout the service journey
  • Ensure compliance with Gas Safe regulations, SFG20 standards and Health & Safety legislation
  • Review operational performance, identify improvement opportunities and implement best practice across contracts
  • Build strong relationships with clients, providing regular performance updates and ensuring service excellence

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • Commercial Gas qualifications (COCN1, ICPN1, CIGA1, CORT1, TPCP1, BMP1 and associated ACS certifications)
  • Previous experience leading engineering or field service teams
  • Strong commercial heating and mechanical plant knowledge
  • Experience managing service contracts, KPIs and compliance
  • Excellent communication and people management skills
  • A proactive leadership style with a passion for continuous improvement
  • Full UK Driving Licence
