Purpose of the Role

To manage and develop sales of our Local Government Highway Safety and Lighting product range across Scotland, Cumbria and the Northeast of England. The role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, maintaining and growing existing customer accounts and ensuring consistent coverage of the territory.

Working with Local Authorities, contractors and consultants, the individual will provide product knowledge, support customer requirements, and contribute to achieving regional sales targets through effective account management and territory planning.


Key Tasks

  • Winning new business – actively targeting, engaging and converting high-value opportunities.
  • Taking full ownership of your pipeline, driving opportunities from first contact through to close.
  • Getting Glasdon products approved for local highways schemes and written into specifications and tenders.
  • Delivering impactful, online or face to face product demonstrations that bring solutions to life and win customer confidence.
  • Building and influencing relationships with key decision makers across Local Authorities and contractors.
  • Identifying and capitalising opportunities across highway infrastructure and public safety.
  • Owning your territory plan – prioritising activity, maximising coverage and focusing on high return opportunities.
  • Generating leads through exhibitions, industry events and proactive account management.
  • Staying close to the market – spotting trends, competitor activity and new routes to win.
  • Developing a strong understanding of technical products to effectively position solutions to customers.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of highways regulations and standards to support product recommendations and approvals.

Person Specification

Essential Skills & Attributes

  • Experience in field sales, account management or business development
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Highly self-motivated with a proactive results driven approach
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Confident in presenting and demonstrating products (online or face to face)
  • IT literate (CRM systems, Microsoft Office, etc)

Desirable

  • Understanding of specification selling and Local Authority processes.
  • Experience managing defined sales territory.
  • Background in highways, construction, infrastructure or public sector sales.
  • Ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
  • Experience using LinkedIn as a business development and prospecting tool.

Essential

  • Full UK Driving Licence

Working Hours

  • Full-time, permanent position.
  • Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm.
  • 30-minute lunch break.
  • Monthly pay in arrears (by the 28th of each month).
