Self-Employed Field Sales Representative (Commission Only) – SumUp
Realistic full-time earnings: £40,000–£50,000+ (uncapped potential beyond that).
About the Role
Ever wanted your income to directly reflect your effort and success? As a Self-Employed Field Sales Representative at SumUp, you’ll work independently to help local small businesses adopt smarter payment and POS solutions, while earning serious earnings through commission.
This role is 100% field-based and face-to-face—no office-based work. You’ll:
- Meet business owners in cafés, salons, shops, restaurants, and other SMEs
- Understand their needs and introduce easy-to-use solutions that drive growth
- Build lasting relationships to secure long-term recurring revenue
You don’t need payment industry experience. Key skills include:
- Strong customer-facing abilities
- Quick rapport-building
- Problem-solving mindset
- Drive and passion for self-success

- Per sign-up:
- £500 avg. upfront value for each brokered deal
- 50% upfront commission
- Recurring revenue:
- 25% of monthly subscription income per business for up to 5 years
- ~75% of customer’s total value paid in the first year
- Hardware sales bonus: Additional commission on card machines, POS systems, and other equipment
Success at Scale:
- 40% ofcurrent reps earn £5,000+ per month
- The harder you work, the higher your earnings potential

What You’ll Do
As a Field Sales Representative, you’ll focus on:
- Identifying and visiting businesses in your assigned territory
- Building trust with business owners and understanding their challenges
- Demonstrating how SumUp’s payment & POS solutions can help them thrive
- Managing your own pipeline—balancing prospects, proposals, and sales
- Converting conversations into long-term customers with recurring value
- Becoming a known and trusted local resource for small businesses
