Field Service Engineer

Job Title: Field Service Engineer – Road Equipment
Location: Duxford, Cambridgeshire & Surrounding Areas
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: Competitive; Depending on Experience
About The Role
We are looking for a Field Service Engineer – Road Equipment to cover Duxford, Cambridgeshire & Surrounding Areas within East Anglia. This role plays a key part in ensuring we deliver a first-class service to both internal and external customers.
You will combine strong technical expertise with a commercially focused mindset, actively identifying service and revenue opportunities and working closely with Customer Support Representatives and your Line Manager to deliver excellent outcomes for customers.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will take ownership of servicing, maintaining and repairing road machinery, ensuring maximum uptime and customer satisfaction. You will use your technical expertise to diagnose faults, provide solutions and deliver work efficiently and safely.
- Service, maintain and repair Dynapac road construction equipment to OEM standards
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults, providing clear technical guidance to customers
- Identify and promote additional service and aftermarket opportunities
- Work in line with quoted times and cost expectations, escalating where required
- Install software updates and machine enhancements
- Complete electronic reports, job updates and timesheets in real time
- Manage parts ordering and returns in line with company processes
- Support breakdowns, call-out rota and overtime requirements
- Maintain high standards of health & safety, quality and compliance
- Attend training to continually develop technical knowledge and skills

About You
You will be a motivated and conscientious engineer with strong technical capability and a professional approach when working with customers, colleagues and management. You will be comfortable working independently in the field, while maintaining a cost-conscious and commercially aware mindset.
- A recognised engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds) in Plant, Agricultural or HGV mechanics
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant, with strong diagnostic skills
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrics and transmissions
- Confidence communicating technical information clearly to customers and internal stakeholders
- Good IT skills, attention to detail and a responsible, reliable approach to your work
Desirable: Experience working with road construction equipment, welding and fabrication skills, or a background with an OEM dealer would be advantageous.
