Field Service Engineer

UK Field Service Engineer

The UK Field Service Engineer is responsible for installing, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing precision measurement equipment at customer sites. This role ensures that instrumentation and metrology systems operate to specification, supporting customers in achieving compliance, accuracy, and process efficiency. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, excellent customer-facing skills, and the ability to work independently in the field, as well as a willingness to travel outside of the UK.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver the highest level of service and technical support to UK and global customers, ensuring a consistently exceptional customer experience.
  • Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot current production instruments at customer sites.
  • Diagnose and resolve instrument issues efficiently, using a methodical and resourceful approach.
  • Utilise CRM for all Service business and activity, including installs, repairs, AMECARE contracts, customer feedback capture, and maintenance of the asset database.
  • Ensure all customer equipment operates at or above factory specifications, maintaining optimal performance and reliability.
  • Maintain outstanding customer satisfaction through professional communication, technical excellence, and proactive support.
  • Willing to travel for a minimum of 2 weeks outside the UK.
  • Support UK/Global Taylor Hobson offices via the Taylor Hobson Helpdesk.

Requirements for Consideration

  • Must hold a degree in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering or possess equivalent technical experience within metrology or a related service field role.
  • Requires 3+ years of experience in a similar industry.
  • Experience with Measuring Instruments/Machine Tools is preferred.
  • Strong technical acumen.
  • Good communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence.
