Field Service Engineer
Field Service Engineer – Nottingham (NG Postcodes)
Salary:
- £30,000–£37,000 (40-hour week) or
- £36,000–£42,500 (45-hour week)
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday – flexible availability for 40-hour or 45-hour week.
About the Role
Joining a market-leading materials handling business, this Field Service Engineer will service, maintain, and repair forklift trucks and a range of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) across customer sites in the Nottingham/NG area.
As a Field Service Engineer, you will: ✔ Conduct fault-finding, diagnostics, planned maintenance, and breakdown repairs. ✔ Operate with autonomy, organising your own workload and schedules. ✔ Enjoy strong back-office technical support with ongoing manufacturer training to stay updated on the latest equipment and technologies.
Responsibilities
- Technical troubleshooting: Diagnosis and repair of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic faults across forklifts, mobile plant machinery, HGVs, and industrial vehicles.
- Regular scheduled servicing to prevent operational breakdowns.
- Emergency breakdown response to minimise downtime for customers.
- Maintain logbooks of all equipment work completed.
- Conduct preventative maintenance schedules as required.
- Ensure all repairs are compliant with manufacturer standards and health & safety regulations.

Requirements
Essential
- Proven hands-on experience in servicing or maintenance of machinery.
- Specialist knowledge of:
- Forklift trucks
- Mobile plant machinery
- HGVs/industrial vehicles
- Strong technical background in:
- Electrical
- Mechanical
- Hydraulics systems
- Engineering qualification (recognition preferred).
- Full UK driving licence (valid for Industry use).

Desirable
- Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer.
- Level 3+ qualification in Engineering (where applicable).
