Field Service Engineer – CMM

Short description:
The Service Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality technical support and services for Hexagon Metrology’s CMM product portfolio. This includes installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of equipment. The role involves working directly with customers across the UK and Ireland, ensuring service is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
The Field Service Engineer will predominantly travel within their assigned local area; however, travel across the UK to support customer needs will also be required.
This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your technical skills in a dynamic, customer-facing environment with a global industry leader.
Tasks in detail:
Technical Service Delivery:
- Install and commission new equipment at customer sites.
- Perform scheduled maintenance, calibrations, and repairs.
- Diagnose faults down to component/module level and produce clear, written service reports.
- Ensure all work complies with Hexagon and customer health and safety policies.
Customer Interaction:
- Communicate effectively with customers before, during, and after site visits.
- Provide guidance on equipment care and preventative maintenance.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through professional, timely service.
- Assist the Service Manager/Service Co-Ordinator with scheduling and coordination of field jobs, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and timely service delivery across the team.

Team Support & Collaboration:
- Share knowledge with colleagues; mentor apprentices and junior engineers.
- Collaborate with internal teams and factory support to resolve complex technical issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing ideas and best practices.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records in service management systems.
- Complete all administration requests on time.
- Follow all internal procedures and uphold Hexagon’s Core values and ethical standards.
Skills & Experience Required:
Technical Expertise:
- HNC or Degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on industry experience.
- Proficient in diagnostic and fault-finding techniques.
- Strong IT skills, particularly in a Windows environment.
