Field Service Engineer CMM

Service Engineer (CMM Products)

Location: UK & Ireland Employment Type: Full-time

Summary

The Service Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality technical support and services for Hexagon Metrology’s CMM product portfolio. This includes installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of equipment, ensuring smooth operation for customers across the UK and Ireland.

The Field Service Engineer will predominantly travel within their assigned local area but may be required to travel across the UK to support customer needs. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your technical skills in a dynamic, customer-facing environment with a global industry leader.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Service Delivery

  • Install and commission new equipment at customer sites.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance, calibrations, and repairs.
  • Diagnose faults to component/module level and produce clear, written service reports.
  • Ensure all work complies with Hexagon and customer health and safety policies.

Customer Interaction

  • Communicate effectively with customers before, during, and after site visits.
  • Provide advice on equipment care and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction through professional, timely service delivery.
  • Assist the Service Manager/Service Coordinator with scheduling and coordination of field jobs to optimise resource allocation and service efficiency.

Team Support & Collaboration

  • Share technical knowledge with colleagues.
  • Mentor apprentices and junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and factory support to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing ideas and best practices.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records in service management systems.
  • Complete all administrative requests on time.
  • Follow internal procedures and uphold Hexagon’s core values and ethical standards.

Qualifications & Skills

Technical Expertise

  • HNC or Degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering (preferred).
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on industry experience.
  • Proficient in diagnostic and fault-finding techniques.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in a Windows environment.
