Field Service Engineer – Critical Power – UK – £45,000 to £55,000 + Benefits
Location: UK (Field Based)
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 + Benefits
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time (42.5 hours per week)
The Opportunity
A leading UK engineering organisation is recruiting an experienced Field Service Engineer specialising in critical power systems. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business delivering essential power solutions across a wide range of industries.
You'll play a key role in maintaining, servicing, and repairing critical power equipment, ensuring systems remain reliable, safe, and ready for deployment. Working across customer sites, you'll provide expert technical support while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
If you have experience within power generation, critical power, industrial electrical systems, or energy storage, this role offers excellent career development, ongoing training, and long-term progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a variety of critical power equipment.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults using appropriate testing equipment.
- Inspect, test, and prepare equipment prior to deployment.
- Complete repairs and modifications to ensure equipment meets operational standards.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Complete service reports and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Ensure all work complies with company procedures and current Health & Safety legislation.
- Conduct risk assessments and work safely using appropriate PPE.
- Report equipment defects, hazards, and near misses to management.
- Provide professional technical support while working at customer sites across the UK.

About You
We're looking for an engineer who enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in delivering high-quality service.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or Workshop Engineer.
- Experience working within power generation, critical power, industrial electrical systems, or a similar sector.
- LV and/or HV electrical qualifications.
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills on three-phase systems.
- Experience maintaining one or more of the following:
- Load Banks
- UPS Systems
- Transformers
- Power Distribution Equipment
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Experience using electrical testing equipment including multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation resistance testers.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
