Field Service Engineer
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a well-established company.
Job Title: Field Service Engineer (Electronic Fire or security, data/telecoms or electrical experience preferred).
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent.
Salary: £28,500 - £32,000 Per Annum, Depending on Experience.
Location: Mitcheldean GL17.
Job Description:
This is a genuine opportunity to build a career in the security sector. You'll start alongside an experienced engineer learning the systems, the sites, and the clients before stepping into a rewarding solo field role with real autonomy and responsibility.
About The Role:
The company are a specialist security provider delivering monitored alarm and CCTV systems to construction sites and void properties across the Midlands and South West / South East of England.
They have an opening for a hands-on field engineer to join their small, close-knit team.
You'll begin with a 12-month structured training period working alongside an experienced engineer before taking on your own schedule independently.
As the role progresses you will have a flexible calendar of service jobs / tasks that will be partially self-managed allowing for flexibility and ownership of the role.
95% of the work is on construction sites installing and maintaining CCTV and wireless detection devices for the site office, compound and site perimeter.
Key Duties:
- Installation of monitored alarm and IP CCTV systems on active construction sites
- Monthly servicing visits to maintain, re-plan and update systems as sites evolve
- Regular direct liaison with construction site managers you'll be the face of FM Security on site
- Self-managing a fixed schedule across sites in the Midlands and South West / South East of England
- Occasional overnight stays for more distant sites
- Working Outdoors
- Some working at height involved

Candidate Requirements - Experience (desirable not all required):
- Hands-on field engineering: alarms, CCTV, networking, cabling, antennas or similar installations
- Direct customer or client-facing work
- Familiarity with construction site environments
- CSCS or ECS card preferred but not essential. We'll support the right candidate in obtaining one.
- CCTV experience (HIK Vision ideally)
Skills required:
- Good fault-finding and analytical thinking
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage your own schedule
- Confident communicator good phone manner and comfortable talking to clients directly
- Physically fit and comfortable working in a construction environment
- Full UK driving licence including manual vehicles (Essential).
- Basic computer literacy

- Will need to be technically minded.
- Will be looking for a long-term career with FM Security.
