Corby, Northamptonshire
£37,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience, with flexibility for strong agricultural or mechanical engineering backgrounds)
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist engineering business working at the heart of modern agriculture and irrigation technology. This is a hands-on, field-based engineering role supporting farming and agricultural customers with the installation, servicing, and repair of large-scale irrigation and water management systems. You will be working directly on equipment used in agricultural environments across farms and rural sites, ensuring systems run reliably during critical growing periods.
This is a varied, practical role - a mix of field service work and workshop-based engineering, focused on real problem-solving rather than routine maintenance.
Key Equipment You'll Work On
- Agricultural irrigation booms and hose reels
- Pumping stations and water distribution systems
- Hydraulic systems used in farm irrigation equipment
- Diesel-powered drive systems
- Electrical control panels, sensors, and automation systems

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
