Field Service Engineer - Oxfordshire Area

Field Service Engineer

Location: Operational base at Aldridge Service Centre, covering the Oxfordshire area Hours: 45 hours per week, typically 07:00–16:30, Monday to Friday Salary: Up to £48,578.40 per annum (DOE)

About the Role

Are you a skilled technician with a passion for problem-solving and delivering exceptional service? We’re recruiting a proactive, customer-focused Frontline Field Engineer to join our Aftermarket Team.

This mobile role requires servicing, repairing, and maintaining specialist vehicles at customer sites and our workshops. You will ensure our fleet is safe, compliant, and fully functional.


Your Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair faults on:

  • Vehicle chassis

  • Mounted equipment

  • Conduct servicing and maintenance to the highest standards

  • Prepare vehicles for MOT tests, ensuring full compliance with Department for Transport (DfT) requirements

  • Use diagnostic tools and software to swiftly pinpoint and resolve issues

  • Log all work using PDA software and maintain accurate service records

  • Travel to customer sites nationwide, including last-minute assignments

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment

  • Provide clear, professional customer service

  • Adhere to health and safety policies and complete risk assessments

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance
  • Previous experience in similar roles (e.g., Field Engineer, HGV Mechanic, Workshop Engineer)
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Knowledge of vehicle technology systems and compliance standards
  • Ability to work independently while managing your own workload
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Flexibility in hours and willingness to travel
  • Competent computer skills for technical documentation (Bonus points for qualifications/licences: IRTEC, HGV Class 2, or experience with electric vehicles.)
