Field Service Engineer - Oxfordshire Area
Field Service Engineer
Location You'll be required to cover the Oxfordshire area and be allocated to the Aldridge Service Centre in our role.
Hours 45 hours per week, between 07:00 and 16:30 Monday to Friday.
Salary Up to £48,578.40 pa (Dependent on experience).
Are you a skilled technician with a passion for problem-solving and delivering exceptional service? We’re looking for a proactive and customer-focused Field Service Engineer to join our Aftermarket team!
This is a mobile role, where you’ll focus on servicing, repairing, and maintaining specialist vehicles at customer sites and company workshops, ensuring they remain safe, compliant, and high-performing.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Diagnose and repair faults on vehicle chassis and mounted equipment
- Carry out servicing and maintenance to a rigorous standard
- Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections, ensuring full compliance with Department for Transport (DfT) specifications
- Use diagnostic software tools to identify and resolve issues
- Log all work via PDA software and maintain accurate service records
- Travel to customer sites across the UK, sometimes at short notice
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times
- Communicate clearly with customers, delivering exceptional service
- Support health and safety practices, including completing risk assessments
Ideal Candidate
Strong applicants should possess:
- An NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as Field Service Engineer, HGV Mechanic, or Workshop Engineer
- Diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with practical experience working on vehicle systems
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle technology and compliance standards
- Independent working skills, comfortably managing workloads alone
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Flexibility with working hours and ability to travel
- General computer literacy, with experience using technical documentation
- preferably:
- Experience with electric vehicles
- A postgraduate qualification in a trade of similar valution (IRTEC qualification* or HGV Class 2 licencing).
