Field Service Engineer
Field Service Engineer – Permanent Position
Location
- UK wide travel (regional patch with occasional overnight stays and on-call)
- Available locations: Harlow (relocation package available), Manchester, Liverpool, Hull, Thetford
About the Role
Are you an experienced Field Service Engineer with skills in gas or diesel engines? Do you enjoy mechanical/electrical fault-finding and working in a field-based role?
If so, we are looking for a self-motivated, hands-on technician to join our international energy business, specialising in gas engine power solutions. You’ll be providing planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring operational excellence for plant across industrial and energy sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance on gas engines and associated equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults efficiently
- Monitor plant uptime and minimise downtime
- Prepare detailed service reports and technical documentation
- Manage van maintenance, tools, and spare parts
- Respond to breakdown callouts on a rotational basis
- Collect and analyse oil samples
- Support junior engineers and mentor team members

Requirements
You have the right combination of skills, experience and attitude if you:
✔ Have a proven track record in servicing gas engines, CHP systems, or similar ✔ Demonstrate strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding abilities ✔ Hold an engineering qualification (NVQ, BEng, or equivalent in mechanical/electrical disciplines) ✔ Are a licensed UK driver (valid full UK manual licence) ✔ Are comfortable using IT systems for diagnostics and reporting ✔ Are happy to travel frequently and work occasionally overnight or on-call ✔ Have a Gas Safe certification (advantageous but not mandatory)

Salary & Benefits
We offer a competitive submission:
📍 Salary: £36,000 – £55,000 (depending on experience) 🚗 Company vehicle (fuel & expenses covered) 💰 Overtime pay at 1.5x standard rate 🌍 25 days holiday + bank holidays 📝 Pension contribution 🎓 Structured training with exposure to Original Equipment Manufacturers 🔧 Career progression within a growing international company
