Field Service Engineer – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) & Photovoltaic Systems (PV) at TMEIC Europe

Role Overview
The Field Service Engineer will support engineering teams across the planning, design, development, construction, installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and post-warranty services of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) & Photovoltaic (PV) systems.
This role also encompasses critical application engineering responsibilities, including:
- Hands-on technical work
- Customer support
- Project management
- Ensuring optimal performance of renewable energy systems
Key Accountabilities
1. Post-Commissioning Operations
(Work at operational sites in EMEA)
- Analyse and investigate technical issues at sites, implementing corrective actions based on troubleshooting results.
- Execute on-site corrective actions under guidance from engineers based outside the EU (e.g., Japan, India).
- Manage and coordinate scheduled maintenance, including required documentation for internal and client use.
- Work with local service partners to:
- Ensure on-site personnel availability.
- Support their technical activities.
- Facilitate communication and coordination among stakeholders:
- Clients
- Vendors
- Local service partners
- Negotiate and coordinate with vendors for:
- Problem resolution.
- Preparation of work schedules.
- Coordinate logistics to ensure:
- Materials and spare parts are available.
- Welfare facilities (e.g., portable toilets) are on-site as needed.
- Perform remote monitoring and data collection at operational sites.
- Maintain on-call availability to address emergencies.
- Document and report troubleshooting activities to clients in a timely manner.

2. Project Commissioning
(On-site support during system commissioning)
- Actively engage at sites during BESS system commissioning, including:
- Coordination with suppliers.
- Local service partners.
- Primary EPC contractors.
- Balance of Plant (BoP) suppliers (both pre- and post-commissioning).
- Organise site logistics to ensure material availability and spare parts on-demand.
3. Application Engineering Support
(During periods when commissioning operations are not active)
- Collaborate with local and UK-based engineers to:
- Support system design evaluations.
- Assist in BESS project support (including international clients and vendor interactions).
- Engage in technical discussions with:
- Clients
- Vendors (overseas offices, factories, and field sites).
- Assist in technical and cost negotiations with vendors.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must hold the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Renewable Energy
- Or a related technical field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in:
- Commissioning electrical equipment (>DC 1000V).
- Servicing high-voltage equipment.
- Working knowledge of BESS projects from:
- Development through to post-warranty support.
- Proven ability to:
- Read and comprehend electrical system drawings and documentation.
- Handle electrical equipment with adherence to safety standards.
- Demonstrated capability to:
- Manage large data volumes.
- Analyse and implement corrective actions from troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience in:
- Replacing spare parts for inverters and control systems.
- Adhering to safety protocols.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, backed by:
- Relevant certifications and training.
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Windows
- Excel
- Word
- Outlook
- ERP systems
- Prepared for:
- Frequent travel to client sites in the UK/EMEA region.
- Adaptable to varying operational environments and schedules.
- Must hold a valid UK/EU driver’s license for travel.
Preferred Qualifications (Bonus)
- Master’s degree in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Renewable Energy
- Or a related field.
- Technical experience in:
- Commissioning control and relay systems for substations.
- Wind/Solar energy infrastructure.
- Additional expertise in:
- Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plants.
- Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power stations.
