FP Mailing UK - Service Engineer

FP Mailing UK is looking for a customer-focused and proactive Service Engineer to join our Service team. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and supporting FP's mailing and shipping solutions at customer sites across your designated Southeast region.

As the face of the business, you will deliver high-quality technical support, ensuring our customers receive an excellent service experience while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, commission, and configure FP franking equipment at customer premises.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing to maximize equipment performance and reliability.
  • Collect old equipment and deliver Folder Inserter Machines.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, software, and connectivity faults using appropriate troubleshooting techniques.
  • Complete repairs and replace faulty components to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Respond to service calls within agreed service level targets and provide timely resolution of customer issues.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service during every customer visit, maintaining a professional and positive approach.
  • Provide customers with operational guidance and basic user training to ensure effective use of FP products and services.
  • Accurately complete service reports, job documentation, and system updates using company service management tools.
  • Maintain company stock, spare parts, tools, and test equipment in accordance with company procedures.
  • Work closely with the Technical Support, Customer Service, and Sales teams to ensure prompt resolution of customer requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for product upgrades, additional services, or customer improvements and communicate these to the appropriate colleagues.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company policies, Health & Safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe company vehicle.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer, Technical Engineer, or similar customer-facing technical role.
  • Technical qualification or relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills covering mechanical, electrical, and software-related equipment.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using laptops, mobile devices, and service management systems.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with the ability to prioritize workload effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Flexibility to travel throughout the assigned service territory.

Note: This position is mostly remote in the UK, but our office is based in Dartford, Kent, and an additional duty of field engineers is to attend the office to assist in repairs and quotes for Dealers.

  • Experience servicing mailing, print, document handling, office automation, or electromechanical equipment.
  • Experience working to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Knowledge of networking, connectivity, and basic software configuration.
  • Experience using CRM or Field Service Management systems.
