Job Description: Service Technician (Customer Site)

Role Overview

Carry out service and repairs to Crown machinery at customer sites, ensuring quality, compliance to Health and Safety and Quality standards, and thorough documentation of all work completed.

The role involves:

  • Service and maintenance jobs following a planned schedule at client premises
  • Equipment and van stock monitoring to ensure adequate supplies for fleet maintenance
  • Safety inspections on repaired/maintained trucks
  • Adherence to strict timescales, deadlines, and planned schedules

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct service and repairs on forklift trucks, batteries, chargers, and automation systems in compliance with Health & Safety guidelines
  • Inspect, diagnose, and rectify customer equipment with minimal business disruption
  • Maintain all technical documentation, including:
    • Completed job sheets
    • Timesheets
    • Parts procurement forms (purchase requisitions)
  • Verify that all tools, vehicles, and equipment are safe/functional for tasks
  • Coordinate with depot to manage spare parts and replace disused inventory as necessary

  • Electrical engineering
  • Hydraulics

Training will be provided to develop further expertise in these areas.


Requirements

Essential

  • Valid full UK driving licence (essential, as company vehicles are provided)
  • GCSE-level proficiency in English and maths (Grade C or equivalent)
  • Proven ability to diagnose faults, troubleshoot, and repair equipment effectively
  • Piece-practice knowledge of Health & Safety in workshops
  • Organisational and prioritisation skills to manage work deadlines and multiple tasks
  • Reliable and self-directed, capable of working both independently and within a team
  • Strong communicative and consultative skills (for discussions with clients/supervisors)
  • Adaptable with resilience to operate under pressure
  • A commitment to continuing development and learning

Desirable

  • Recent hands-on experience working in a forklift maintenance/service environment
  • Engineering qualifications (courses, certifications relevant to lift trucks)

Vacancy Details (Working Conditions & Benefits)

Work Schedule

  • Monday–Friday: 08:00 am – 16:30 pm
    • 30-minute unpaid lunch break included

Company Provision

  • Vehicle: Use of a company van with a fuel card for work-related travel (and private use subject to tax regulations)
  • Pension: Contributory company pension scheme

Leave

  • 25 days holiday per year (plus UK Bank Holidays)
