Job Details

Role: IT Support Technician (Contract – 3 months, possible permanent conversion)

Start Date: 3rd August

This role requires a clean, full driving licence.


The Role: IT Support Technician (Managed Desktop Services)

We are seeking a hands-on IT Support Technician to join our Managed Desktop Services team, responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining laptops, desktops, POS (Point of Sale) systems, and related hardware.

This is a fast-paced, technical role where you’ll split your time between onsite support and remote assistance, prioritising quick resolution to keep client systems running smoothly. Collaboration, communication, and a first-time fix mindset are essential.


Responsibilities

Technical Support & Maintenance

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software faults across laptops, desktops (Windows/macOS/Linux), and peripherals
  • Configure, install, and maintain operating systems (Windows and other platforms)
  • Carry out repairs, replace components, and perform system upgrades
  • Troubleshoot printers, connectivity issues, and RPOS hardware

User & Service Support

  • Provide onsite and remote support, offering clear, practical guidance
  • Ensure accurate job records, service notes, and repair documentation
  • Follow data protection, backup, and security protocols
  • Escalate complex issues when necessary

Service Delivery & Compliance

  • Maintain high customer service and communication standards
  • Stay updated on latest hardware, tools, and repair methods

Typical Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:30 with a one-hour lunch break.


Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in IT support or laptop/PC hardware repair
  • Essential: Strong Windows OS knowledge (macOS/Linux experience beneficial)
  • Proficiency in diagnostic tools and fault-finding
  • Effective troubleshooting skills (hardware, networking basics)
  • Excellent customer service & communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and self-manage workloads
  • Confidence in onsite and remote support environments

Compliance & Clearances

  • Enhanced DBS check required (full disclosure of all convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974). Offers are conditional.
  • SC (Sensitive) Clearance will be required for this role. Includes a basic criminal record check – GOV.UK – SC Vetting | Applicant Guidance Pack
