Field Service & Support Engineer
Field Service Engineer / Technician – Cheshire / Staffordshire (UK-wide travel required)
About The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Field Service Engineer to support our customers across the UK, with a primary base at our customer centre in the Cheshire area.
This is a varied role combining:
- On-site technical support
- Tooling repair
- Preventative maintenance
- Customer-facing technical expertise
You’ll work across:
- Assembly tooling (pneumatic & DC electric tools)
- Bespoke projects
- Continuous improvement activities

Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day technical support across key customer sites and additional UK locations
- Diagnose, service, and repair assembly tooling (pneumatic, DC, and related systems)
- Perform preventative maintenance and calibration activities
- Support bespoke assembly projects and customer rework requests
- Deliver product training and technical guidance to customers
- Collaborate with internal teams and Area Sales Managers to resolve technical challenges
- Promote Desoutter products through strong customer relationships
- Stay updated on competitor developments and industry trends

What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Strong background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering (hands-on experience)
- Experience with assembly tooling (e.g., clutch, transducer, pulse tools)
- Exceptional fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively
- Strong communication skills, including customer interaction and presentations
- Practical IT literacy beyond basic proficiency
- Valid and clean Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- ONC/HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Industrial or manufacturing sector experience
- Knowledge of torque tooling systems and applications
- Experience in delivering customer training
