Field Service & Support Engineer

Field Service Engineer / Technician – Cheshire / Staffordshire (UK-wide travel required)

About The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Field Service Engineer to support our customers across the UK, with a primary base at our customer centre in the Cheshire area.

This is a varied role combining:

  • On-site technical support
  • Tooling repair
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Customer-facing technical expertise

You’ll work across:

  • Assembly tooling (pneumatic & DC electric tools)
  • Bespoke projects
  • Continuous improvement activities

If you enjoy problem-solving, independence, and acting as the trusted technical expert for customers, this role is for you.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support across key customer sites and additional UK locations
  • Diagnose, service, and repair assembly tooling (pneumatic, DC, and related systems)
  • Perform preventative maintenance and calibration activities
  • Support bespoke assembly projects and customer rework requests
  • Deliver product training and technical guidance to customers
  • Collaborate with internal teams and Area Sales Managers to resolve technical challenges
  • Promote Desoutter products through strong customer relationships
  • Stay updated on competitor developments and industry trends

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Strong background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering (hands-on experience)
  • Experience with assembly tooling (e.g., clutch, transducer, pulse tools)
  • Exceptional fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Strong communication skills, including customer interaction and presentations
  • Practical IT literacy beyond basic proficiency
  • Valid and clean Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • ONC/HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Industrial or manufacturing sector experience
  • Knowledge of torque tooling systems and applications
  • Experience in delivering customer training
