Role Overview
The Field Service Technician is responsible for delivering field-based engineering support, including break/fix repairs and preventative maintenance at customer sites such as secure premises, banking facilities, government buildings, retail outlets, and commercial properties.
This role combines technical expertise with exceptional customer service, promoting a first-time-fix culture to ensure a seamless experience and build long-term relationships. Service Technicians must be adaptable, proactive, and skilled communicators, providing reliable support while representing Gunnebo Entrance Control to the highest standard.
This position will cover the whole of Scotland, with occasional work in the North East and North West.
Responsibilities
- Perform field-based engineering tasks, including break/fix repairs and preventative maintenance at customer sites.
- Deliver excellent customer service, maintaining a professional appearance and clear, customer-focused communication.
- Strive for a high first-time-fix rate, minimising repeat visits and resolving challenges effectively.
- Support the wider service team and collaborate with colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Follow customer procedures for job completion and maintain accurate documentation, including permits, timesheets, expenses, and ERP updates.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with the call desk and management team.
- Stay up to date with relevant technology and best practices to support customers effectively.
- Participate in a 1-in-4 on-call rota for out-of-hours support and travel regularly across the UK.
- Promote continuous improvement and professional development, suggesting enhancements where appropriate.
- Comply with all Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
- Conduct site walks and capture data to support upselling opportunities.
- Remain flexible, including covering other regions when required.

Requirements
- Strong knowledge of electronic/electrical circuitry and ability to read wiring diagrams.
- Good mechanical and hydraulic understanding.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; comfortable with PDA/smartphone software.
- Experience as a mobile engineer with excellent documentation and customer service skills.
- Commercial awareness and ability to present a positive company image.
- Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills; able to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Willingness to learn new products and continuously develop skills.
- Proven ability to deliver results, meet deadlines, and work independently while being a trusted team player.
- Full UK driving licence
