JOB – Field Service Engineer
LOCATION – Surrey (Field based)
TERM – Permanent
SALARY – Competitive, dependent on qualifications and experience
My client is a market-leading supplier and service provider of high-security gates, barriers and access control systems. Due to continued year-on-year growth, they are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.
The Field Service Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- Proven experience in a field service and maintenance role
- Hydraulic and or electro-mechanical background is essential
- Ideally hold a relevant qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- Strong fault finding, diagnostic and repair skills
- Experience working independently in a remote, site-based role
- Hold a valid CSCS Card and DHF Training (preferred)
- Able to obtain Security Clearance (CRB checks required)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- IT literate with good report writing abilities
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Flexible approach to working hours and travel within the designated region
- Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 penalty points

The Field Service Engineer role will involve:
- Diagnosing, servicing and repairing a wide range of automated security products including gates, barriers, bollards, road blockers, turnstiles and control panels
- Installing new and replacement automated security equipment
- Carrying out fault finding and replacing defective components
- Testing systems to ensure safe and correct operation
- Completing force testing and reporting any failures
- Producing accurate service and maintenance reports, including recommendations for additional works
- Ensuring all work is completed within allocated timescales
- Providing technical support and assistance when required
- Adhering to Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures
- Maintaining company vehicles, tools, equipment and van stock to a high standard
- Building and maintaining strong customer relationships whilst identifying opportunities to grow the business
