Field Services Engineer – Battery Energy Storage Systems

North UK, Scotland

About Envision

Envision Energy is the only 100% fully integrated OEM for utility-scale energy storage systems. As industry pioneers, we:

  • Manufacture our own cells (AESC), DC storage systems, bi-directional inverters (PCS), transformers, PPC, EMS, and SCADA.
  • Seamlessly integrate these components to construct battery-powered power plants.
  • Displace traditional coal and gas generators, enabling sustainable viability for renewable energy sources such as solar and wind.

About the Role

A Battery Energy Storage (BESS) Field Service Engineer will:

  • Assist with device research and testing protocols.
  • Design battery testing schedules.
  • Install production equipment or systems.
  • Gather and analyse data collection and statistical metrics.
  • Develop and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Prepare contracts, disclosures, applications, procedural documents, and reports.
  • Conduct both planned and unplanned maintenance.

The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, including:

  • MEP Operations
  • Development
  • Construction teams

to ensure the seamless operation and optimisation of BESS assets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of HSE excellence within the team and organisation.
  • Develop Operational & Maintenance (O&M) functions to meet asset management goals as the business grows.
  • Ensure effective and efficient delivery of O&M services for BESS assets.
  • Manage escalations adhering to regulatory, contractual, and commercial obligations.
  • Troubleshoot issues for teams and partners to resolve operational inefficiencies.
  • Identify areas for improvement to maximise system efficiency.
  • Provide remote diagnostics and customer support.
  • Maintain annual preventive maintenance checks (PPM) and capacity testing.
  • Comply with all safety protocols while working efficiently.
  • Assist in apprenticeship, commissioning, and start-up activities at customer sites.
  • Support the system engineering team in product and project development.
  • Develop actionable insights from field experiences to support future innovations.
  • Conduct customer training (live or through virtual sessions).

What We’re Looking For

Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong HSE (Health & Safety) experience in electrical systems (RAMS/SHEQ/CDM exposure).
  • Electrical/Mechanical background in construction or contracting environments.
  • Working knowledge of BS7671 electrical regulations (renewables, BESS, EV charging stations, PP installations).
  • Familiarity with 18th Edition BS7671 & BS8502 EAL/IEE.
  • City & Guilds Electrical Certification (Level 3 NVQ, 5357/AEI 2357-13, or equivalent).
  • ECS Card (registered with IEC).
  • Full UK driving license.
