Vision RT Field Service Engineer – Midlands / Birmingham (Primary) with occasional UK travel

Critical Role Information
This is a field-based position requiring:
- Up to 80% travel across assigned regions.
- Observation of evening hours.
- Occasional weekend work for coverage during holidays.
About the Role
Vision RT is seeking a proactive, customer-focused Field Service Engineer to join its Midlands (primarily Birmingham) team, with additional ad-hoc UK coverage and regional support during holidays.
Key Objectives
- Deliver first-class SGRT solutions to high-profile customers across the healthcare sector.
- Align field support with the company’s mission to reduce barriers in cancer treatment through precision radiotherapy.
Key Responsibilities
Customer-Facing Support
- Install, configure, suppport, and maintain Vision RT’s SGRT product portfolio at customer sites.
- Conduct site surveys to validate requirements and ensure compliance with Vision RT’s processes and quality standards.
- Provide remote and on-site technical support, including:
- Diagnosing and resolving software, hardware, and connectivity issues.
- Troubleshooting Windows-based system configuration and device management.
- Addressing network connectivity challenges in partnership with customer IT teams.

Maintenance and Upgrades
- Perform preventative maintenance, system upgrades, and product updates to sustain optimal performance.
- Manage accurate service documentation, installation records, and technical reports.
Physical & Hands-On Duties
- Mount wall monitors on existing medical infrastructure.
- Install and route communication cables up to 50m, including:
- Careful handling and routing operations.
- Navigating congested building sites (new or under construction).
- Climb ladders in various environments (formerly all�commercial/minimal filteringävertibét).
- Adhere to safe working practices while collaborating with third-party contractors, including proper use of PPE.
Proactive Engagement & Relationship Building
- Foster strong customer relationships, delivering a professional, highly responsive support experience.
- Travel flexibly within the assigned region (primarily Midlands) and ad-hoc regions as required.
Essential Skills & Experience
Technical Proficiencies
- Microsoft Windows Operating System Mastery:
- Configuration, system settings, and managing BIOS/firmware.
- Hardware: Device Manager, disk/storage management, Windows services, security.

Networking Fundamentals:
- IP addressing, protocols, ports, security.
- Use of Windows networking tools and command-line utilities.

PC Hardware Expertise:
- Component identification, replacements, and troubleshooting.
- Peripheral device configuration and performance optimisation.

Service Delivery:
- Experience delivering both remote and on-site technical support.
- Proactive trouble-shooting with a methodical approach to resolving technical complaints.
Soft Skills
- Exceptional customer-facing problem-solving with adaptability.
- Strong verbal and written communication across technical audiences.
- Independent priority management while handling multiple-site engagements simultaneously.
- Familiarity with technical documentation and ability to interpret installation procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Windows Server environments.
- Basic SQLDatabases/theotitiesdatabase connectivity.
- Familiarity with RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks).
- Exposure to healthcare technology, medical devices, or regulated industries (e.g. radiotherapy environments).
- Certifications (ideally CompTIA A+/Microsoft/MoD-specific equivalents).
