Field Service Engineer
Reading - Oxford - Swindon - Southampton
£40,000 (+£10k Overtime)
Field Based Role
We are currently partnering with a well-established engineering and manufacturing solutions provider who are looking to add a Field Service Engineer to their growing service team. The business supports a range of specialist industrial equipment across the UK and continues to see strong growth within advanced manufacturing sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically and mechanically biased engineer who enjoys a customer-facing role, problem-solving in the field, and working on a variety of equipment and applications. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out installation, commissioning, preventative maintenance, servicing, and breakdown support at customer sites throughout the UK.
The position will involve regular travel and occasional overnight stays, with many clients being in the Swindon – London – M4 corridor range.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and servicing activities at customer sites.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on specialist industrial equipment.
- Install, commission, and validate new machinery and systems.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to customers.
- Complete service reports and associated documentation accurately.
- Maintain excellent customer relationships through professional service delivery.
- Work closely with internal engineering and service teams to support project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety procedures.
Experience Required
- Strong electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge.
- Previous experience in a Field Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Service Technician, or similar role.
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK, including overnight stays.

Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of CNC control systems including Siemens, Fanuc, or Heidenhain.
- Experience working within manufacturing, automation, machine tools, advanced materials, or industrial machinery environments.
- Experience with installation and commissioning activities.
