Field Service Engineer Opportunity

Visum Recruitment are proud to be representing our client, a global manufacturer and market leader within the bearings and power transmission industry, who are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their growing technical services team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a customer-facing role where you'll act as the technical expert, supporting key industrial customers across the UK and Nordic region. Working closely with the sales and engineering teams, you'll be responsible for diagnosing equipment failures, carrying out root cause analysis, delivering technical training and helping customers maximise equipment reliability and performance.

Field Service Engineer Job Overview

  • Provide on-site technical support to customers across the UK and Nordic region.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and carry out detailed root cause analysis on bearings, rotating equipment and power transmission systems.
  • Work closely with the sales team to develop customer relationships and identify opportunities to expand service offerings.
  • Manage a strategic programme of customer visits, balancing planned preventative support with reactive site attendance.
  • Produce detailed technical reports, damage analysis and recommendations following customer visits.
  • Deliver technical training to customers and internal colleagues on products, applications and best practices.
  • Utilise quality management systems to investigate customer complaints and ensure issues are resolved effectively.
  • Liaise with internal engineering, product management, quality and commercial teams to provide technical feedback from the field.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through detailed reporting and customer insight.
  • Travel extensively throughout the UK and Nordic region, including overnight stays where required.

Field Service Engineer Job Requirements

  • HNC/HND, Degree or Apprenticeship qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of four years' post-apprenticeship field service or hands-on mechanical engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of bearings, rotating equipment, gearboxes, industrial machinery or power transmission products.
  • Experience carrying out fault diagnosis, failure analysis and mechanical inspections.
  • Confident communicating technical information to customers and producing professional engineering reports.
  • Organised, self-motivated and able to manage multiple customer priorities independently.
  • Competent using Microsoft Office and technical reporting software. Experience with ERP systems or CAD would be advantageous.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and valid passport.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK and Nordic region.
  • Additional Nordic language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.
