About SOCOTEC’s Infrastructure Team
SOCOTEC’s Infrastructure team delivers essential technical services ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of major construction and civil engineering projects across the UK.
Our services include:
- Independent construction materials testing – verifying strength, durability, and performance
- Foundations and pile testing – confirming ground stability
- Specialist structures and pavements assessment – analysis and evaluations
- Integrated geotechnical and structural monitoring – real-time data throughout project lifecycles
We use industry-leading methods and advanced technology, supporting projects from initial investigations right through to long-term performance. Our role helps manage risk, meet regulatory standards, and build safer, more resilient assets.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll need to:
- Work independently and confidently on construction sites and in labs
- Collaborate effectively as part of a high-performing team
- Participate in sampling and testing of construction materials both on-site and in laboratory settings
- Complete test sheets, including all required calculations
- Produce reports in line with QA systems
(Note: This list is not exhaustive and not all tasks may apply in every role.)
Requirements
To thrive as a Field Technician, you should have:
- A health & safety-focused mindset
- A full UK driving licence
- Experience in site and laboratory testing of construction materials preferred (though we’re willing to train)
- Knowledge of UKAS-accredited laboratory practices
A CSCS card is desirable but we can facilitate the process for you if required.
