File Handler (Pre-Litigated Complex Credit Hire) – 12 Month Secondment

Department: Legal Employment Type: Secondment Location: Bolton

About the Role

This critical role presents an exciting opportunity to investigate complex credit hire claims within a legal technical team.

The File Handler will conduct high-level investigations into contentious pre-litigated claims (valued over £25,000) on behalf of our clients.

As part of Keoghs, the team’s focus is on deterring exaggerated and inflated credit hire claims, saving businesses significant financial losses annually.

The incumbent will manage a portfolio of DA & NDA pre-litigated credit hire cases under direct supervision from a Technical Supervisor.

Primary Tasks Include:

  • Review and analysis of all caseware, per client guidelines, across the claim's lifespan.
  • Client relationship management; keeping the client’s best interests central to all decisions.
  • Developing and maintaining a structured investigation strategy, balancing KYO (Keep It Out) methodologies.
  • Negotiation of claims via all telephone communications with opposing solicitors.
  • Consultation and liaison with insured parties where necessary.
  • Stakeholder management via an ISO 9001-compliant Case Management System (CMS).
  • Accurate completion of Management Information (MI) for monitoring and reporting purposes.
  • Providing strategic feedback post-repudiation to pre-proceedings handlers and clients.
  • Ensuring full SRA-compliance with best-case practice standards.
  • Adherence to Keoghs Values in real-world application.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
