File Handler (Pre Litigated Complex Credit Hire)

Description
This role provides an exceptional opportunity to investigate complex credit hire claims. The File Handler will undertake intricate and technical investigations into claims submitted from a specific opponent, focusing on pre-litigated cases valued over £25,000. The primary purpose of this position is to assist clients in saving hundreds of thousands of pounds annually by addressing exaggerated and inflated credit hire claims.

Key Responsibilities
This role involves handling a caseload of Disclosure Applications (DA) and Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) pre-litigated credit hire files, supervised by a Technical Supervisor. Key tasks include:
- Reviewing and analysing files throughout each case’s lifecycle, adhering to client guidelines
- Developing and maintaining client relationships, ensuring the client remains central to all decisions
- Formulating an initial strategic approach while evaluating KYO (Know Your Opponent) insights
- Conducting telephone negotiations with third-party solicitors
- Liaising with insured individuals as required
- Organising and tracking tasks via the Case Management System
- Completing Management Information (MI) reports accurately
- Providing feedback on successful “kick outs” to pre-proceedings handlers and clients via outcome reports
- Ensuring all files comply with ISO 9001 standards
- Maintaining compliance with SRA (Solicitors Regulation Authority) standards and regulations

Working Hours
35 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM), inclusive of a 1-hour lunch break.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Essential:
- Proven experience in handling credit hire files, including independent case load management
- At least 5 GCSEs (or equivalent); a degree or Legal Practice Course (LPC) is preferred
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritise workloads, and follow procedures diligently
- Strong listening and verbal communication skills, including effective telephone negotiation
- Tact and sensitivity required in high-pressure scenarios
- Decisiveness under pressure and the ability to remain calm
- Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and (preferably) a Case Management System
- Alignment with Keoghs’ values

- Personal Injury (PI) claims experience
- Knowledge of managing cases involving potential indemnity issues
