Sulzer is a leading engineering company with a proud heritage of innovation
Join our global team to grow your expertise and develop innovative solutions that enable a prosperous and more sustainable society.
About the role
At Sulzer, we don't just manufacture pumps—we engineer and build critical equipment that keeps vital industries moving across the globe. From power generation and water infrastructure to energy, chemicals and industrial processing, our pumps are trusted in some of the world's most demanding applications.
Our Leeds facility is one of Sulzer's flagship pump manufacturing centres, combining decades of engineering expertise with modern manufacturing technology following significant investment and refurbishment.
We're looking for an experienced Final Inspection Lead to join our recently refurbished, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Leeds, where you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring every pump package leaves our site meeting the highest standards of quality, safety and customer satisfaction.
This is not a typical inspection role. You'll be working alongside teams who design, manufacture, assemble and test some of the largest and most technically advanced pumps in the industry. Some of our products weigh up to 150 tonnes, requiring exceptional coordination, precision and engineering excellence to take them from concept to customer delivery.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading final inspection activities for complete pump packages and rotating equipment.
- Coordinating the final assembly verification process before customer dispatch.
- Reviewing and approving final manufacturing records and quality documentation.
- Ensuring products comply with ISO 9001 standards and internal quality requirements.
- Verifying that all customer specifications, technical requirements and contractual obligations have been fulfilled.
- Overseeing and signing off complete pump packages and bareshaft assemblies.
- Working closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Project Management and Quality teams to resolve issues and ensure on-time delivery.
- Supporting customer inspections and witness activities where required.
- Driving a culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement across the operation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
