Working at the Welsh Mountain Zoo is more than just a job – it's an opportunity to make a real contribution to the future of the National Zoo of Wales.
Our purpose is to save species and their habitats. Through conservation, education, research, exceptional animal welfare and unforgettable visitor experiences, we are working towards our vision of a future where the natural world is valued, understood and protected.
As we continue to develop and strengthen our organisation, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance & Administration Team Leader to lead our finance and office function.
This is a varied role combining hands-on financial management, team leadership and systems improvement. - Experience using financial systems, ideally Xero.
- Experience supporting month-end processes, management reporting and audit preparation.
- Ability to develop and improve financial systems, controls and procedures.
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate financial information confidently to non-finance colleagues.
- Experience supervising, coaching or supporting colleagues would be advantageous.
- AAT Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) is desirable; candidates qualified through experience are encouraged to apply.
- A collaborative and positive approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
