Finance Analyst
Financial Analyst – Exeter Castings & Alloy Plants
About the Role
We are seeking a strong Financial Analyst with high energy and drive to join Howmet Engines in a physically demanding yet rewarding environment.
This key Finance role will provide operational finance support for Exeter Castings and Exeter Alloy Plants, while also handling UK statutory duties for semi-active/non-trading entities across the UK. The position reports to the Location and UK Country Controller.
Key Responsibilities
- Support month-end closing activities for Exeter site, meeting Howmet Aerospace’s 1-day close deadlines
- Ensure VAT compliance and execute monthly close procedures for UK-based non-trading entities
- Conduct value-added financial and operational analyses to inform senior business leaders
- Prepare detailed monthly account reconciliations, VAT returns, and other statutory filings
- Assist with audit and tax compliance coordination
- Liaise with external auditors and HMRC, addressing control findings and facilitating remedial action plans
- oversee Internal Control requirements and improve financial governance
- Generate and analyse key management reports, including:
- Profitability by part and cost structure
- Price analysis and inventory management
- Lead process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency at Exeter
- Act as a financial Business Partner to plant operations teams, interacting regularly with site leadership
- Collaborate with finance teams to maintain seamless integration and workflows

Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Part-qualified Accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
- 3+ years of financial analysis or similar roles, including experience in:
- Manufacturing or industrial engineering sectors
- Audit support, compliance, and regulatory submissions
- Strong proficiency in:
- Accounting systems (Oracle desirable for experience)
- Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (complex modelling, macros, automation)
- Ability to interpret data, develop actionable plans, and drive execution
- Assertive, results-driven with clear communication skills for:
- Senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external auditors
- Strong organisational & project management abilities with:
- Currency working under ** tight deadlines**
- Flexibility in RADICAL working environments (e.g., shift patterns in manufacturing)
- Proactive self-starter, with:
- Dedication, focus, and initiative
- Team player mentality with an attentive, empathetic approach

Desirable (Nice-to-Have) Skills
- Direct experience in Oracle ERP systems
- Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance methods (e.g., SOX controls)
- Previous work with:
- Corporate tax structuring
- HMRC-enforced VAT regulatory changes
- External audits and lengthy regulatory filings
- Process improvement mentality to automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows
