About the Role

This is a critical role within the Group Reporting team, responsible for the central consolidation of The Edrington Group and serving as a centre of excellence for technical accounting.

You’ll report to the Group Reporting Accountant and be accountable for the following key areas:

  • Preparation and compliance of group VAT submissions
  • Contribution to monthly and annual closure processes
  • Leading the intercompany recharging process for the UK business

Key Responsibilities

Tax & VAT Compliance

  • Leading the preparation of monthly VAT returns reporting for Edrington’s VAT group, including detailed analysis and ensuring full compliance.
  • Overseeing administrative record-keeping and reconciliation of duty accounts, including excise, duty, and VAT payments on imports.

Accounting & Reconciliation

  • Conducting reconciliations for VAT and intercompany recharge accounts.
  • Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of key month-end journals.
  • Reviewing and analysing monthly intercompany balances, collaborating with Accounts Payable/Receivable and overseas teams to ensure accurate postings.

Financial Reporting & Statutory Compliance

  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly Group KPIs, including coordinating inputs to Web Intelligence (WebI) and analysing outputs for reporting.
  • Handling ad hoc manual invoicing for group recharges and non-standard sales.
  • Aiding in the preparation of select subsidiary statutory accounts, compliant with IFRS/FRS101.
  • Supporting the Group Accountant in drafting specific notes for Group statutory accounts.

Your Talent & Skills

Essential Qualifications

  • An education equivalent to an HND in Finance or Business Administration, preferably with a financial or administrative background.

Desirable Experience

  • Part-qualified accountant or candidate beginning professional accountancy studies (company-sponsored qualification support available).
  • Previous experience in Finance, Accounts Payable, or VAT reporting.
  • PC-literate, with strong Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Analysis for Office (AFO), and Web Intelligence (WebI) is advantageous but not essential.
