Finance Analyst – Tech Finance Team (London, Coventry, or Manchester / Hybrid)
Key Location(s) This role is ideally based at one of our Store Support Centers in London, Coventry, or Manchester, with hybrid working (1–2 office days per week on average).

What You’ll Do
As part of the Tech Finance team, your core responsibilities will include:
- Providing financial insights and analysis to shape decision-making on project and operational expenditure (CAPEX and OPEX) within the Tech division.
- Developing and delivering periodic Management Information for stakeholders, improving visibility and strategic alignment.
- Supporting forecasting processes, including budget creation and financial scenario modelling.
- Evaluating the financial impact of cloud technology on Tech projects and ensuring transparent, data-driven cost optimisation.
- Managing ad hoc reporting and analysis, challenging legacy reporting methods where needed.
- enforcing financial controls, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting.
- Collaborating closely with project managers to drive data-informed forecasting and decision-making.

Who You Are
Sainsbury’s is looking for a self-driven, analytically minded accounting professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced tech environment. Ideal candidates will:
- Be either a fully-qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA preferred) with experience in financial analysis and reporting.
- Demonstrate strong skills in P&L management and a deep understanding of capitalization principles for intangible assets.
- Have a proven ability to influence stakeholders across technical and commercial levels, balancing data-driven evidence with strategic storytelling.
- Show expertise in prioritizing tasks under pressure, maintaining ownership of deliverables, and delivering accurate, high-quality outputs.
- Be comfortable using business data to challenge assumptions and inform strategic decisions, adapting to changing priorities and KPIs.
- Embrace collaboration and continuous improvement, building relationships with non-finance colleagues and reinforcing cross-functional trust.

Essential Criteria

Absolutely required:
- Either a fully-qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA), or equivalent professional body.
- Hands-on experience in a complex, fast-moving organisation, with AHIO (accounts/code-based) experience.
- Strong P&L management and capitalization principles knowledge, particularly with intangible assets.
- Trademarked analytical mindset and problem-solving instinct, supported by a track record of influencing decisions based on evidence.
- Ability to challenge financial and operational processes constructively, with measurable improvements aligned to objectives.
- Experience collaboratively delivering under pressure, with a deliver-orientated, proactive attitude.
