Vital Services is on an ambitious journey — reshaping how high‑quality, fully managed healthcare facilities are delivered for Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. As we enter a new phase of growth, we’re looking for a dynamic Finance & Commercial Director to help shape our future.
This is a rare opportunity to join a purpose‑driven organisation with the agility of a commercial business and the values of the NHS. You’ll sit at the heart of our newly restructured Board, leading financial strategy, commercial performance, and long‑term sustainability across a diverse portfolio of estates, facilities, sustainability, medical engineering and capital project services.

What You’ll Lead
- Long‑term financial strategy, planning and reporting
- Commercial strategy, contract performance and negotiations
- Business development and growth opportunities
- Governance, assurance and risk management
- Efficiency, transformation and value‑for‑money programmes
What You’ll Bring
- A professional accountancy qualification (CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW)
- Senior financial leadership experience in a contract‑driven environment
- Strong commercial acumen and experience managing FM/estates contracts
- A collaborative, values‑driven approach aligned with public‑service ethos
- Experience working with public‑sector clients — ideally the NHS

You will be entitled to 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and will be enrolled into the NEST pension scheme.
BWC Management Services Limited (also known as Vital Services) is a wholly-owned subsidiary company of Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust (BWC). The sole focus of Vital Services is the provision of estates and facilities services and, most importantly, the staff who provide these crucial services who are fundamental to the Trust being able to deliver world-class care. All Estates, Medical Engineering and Facilities staff are employed directly by Vital Services and although not NHS employees, are very much part of the BWC family, working together to be a world-leading team, providing world-leading care.
