Finance and Contracts Manager – Bluebird Care
Location: Basildon, SS15 6TH
Salary: £40,000 per annum (pro rata, FTE)
Working Pattern: Office-based, 3 days per week (8:30am–5:00pm)

Our continued growth has created an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Finance and Contracts Manager to oversee senior financial operations, management accountancy, and procurement strategies across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Responsibilities
Reporting to the Managing Director, your responsibilities will include:
- Completing management accounts, including accruals and prepayments, with adept financial reporting experience.
- Supporting oversight of significant payroll queries alongside Finance Assistants.
- Managing debtor processes and supporting cash flow management.
- Producing concise financial reporting, including:
- National Minimum Wage (NMW) compliance reporting
- Margin analysis
- KPI reporting
- Liaising with external accountants and advisors.
- Assisting with financial month-end and year-end processes.
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities across the organisation.
- Managing and mentoring junior members of the finance team.
- Building strong working relationships across departments and external stakeholders.

Developing, implementing, and refining a procurement strategy aligned with the business’s size, ambition, and risk profile:
- Managing procurement contracts across the Group, including:
- PPE supplies
- Uniforms
- Fleet
- Insurance
- IT equipment
- Office supplies
- Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure procurement aligns with operational objectives.
- Managing end-to-end procurement processes, including:
- Sourcing
- Tendering
- Supplier evaluation
- Contract negotiation
- Supplier performance management
- Collaborating with internal departments to understand procurement needs and provide value-driven solutions.
- Implementing and maintaining a clear and user-friendly contract register.
- Conducting comprehensive contract reviews, identifying contractual and commercial risks, and recommending pragmatic solutions.
- Ensuring compliance with:
- Governance frameworks
- Procurement best practices
- Relevant regulations
- Driving cost-saving initiatives and enhancing value for money.

About You: Skills & Experience
We’re looking for a commercially aware, highly organised, and confident professional with experience in both procurement and finance across Health & Social Care.

Essential Skills & Experience
✔ Proficiency in systems, including Xero and Microsoft Excel ✔ Minimum 2 years’ experience in procurement and contract management, ideally within Health & Social Care ✔ Strong understanding of:
- Procurement best practices
- Compliance standards
- Governance frameworks
- Risk management ✔ Proven commercial negotiation skills, delivering favourable terms ✔ Analytical and problem-solving abilities ✔ Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple priorities ✔ Strong communication skills, engaging confidently with:
- Suppliers
- Internal teams
- Senior management ✔ Demonstrated experience in cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements ✔ Experience supporting or managing finance team members
Desirable Qualifications/Experience
🔹 Experience in management accounts preparation 🔹 Knowledge of payroll processes and NMW compliance 🔹 Background in domiciliary care, healthcare, or social care sectors 🔹 AAT qualification or studying towards ACCA/CIMA
