Finance Apprentice
Location: Melton (near Hull, HU14 3HJ)
Salary: National Minimum Wage (age dependent) + 30 days holiday + pension + staff discount across Heron Foods & B&M
If you're looking to start your career in finance and gain valuable experience within a busy Head Office environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
As a Finance Apprentice, you'll support our Finance team with a variety of administrative and accounting tasks that help keep our business running smoothly. You'll gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced finance professionals while learning how finance supports a growing national retailer.
This is an excellent opportunity to build valuable financial, analytical and business skills while earning a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification.

About The Role
You'll be part of our Finance team, supporting the day-to-day financial operations of a business with over 340 stores across the UK.
Working alongside experienced colleagues, you'll learn key finance processes and gain practical experience across areas such as purchase ledger, reconciliations, reporting and financial administration.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the processing of invoices and financial documents
- Maintaining accurate financial records and databases
- Assisting with account reconciliations and resolving queries
- Processing and checking financial information for accuracy
- Liaising with suppliers, stores and internal departments regarding finance-related queries
- Supporting the preparation of reports and spreadsheets
- Assisting with month-end administration and finance activities
- Providing general administrative support to the Finance team
What You'll Need
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Strong communication skills
- Confidence using computers and learning new systems
- A proactive and flexible approach to work
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- An interest in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration

Qualifications
- Good standard of English and Maths
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel (desirable but not essential)
