Finance Assessment Officer

Finance Assessment Officer

About the Role

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Finance Assessment Team in a full-time, permanent position.

Working within The Safe and Caring Communities Service, the Charging and Assessment Team is dynamic and friendly. You will enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work model—some days spent in the office (located in Bodmin, Truro, or Camborne) and others working remotely, including occasional visits to service users in the community.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct financial assessments for individuals receiving care at home or in residential services, both by phone and in-person.
  • Liaise directly with service users and their families, ensuring fair, consistent, and timely completion of assessments.
  • Provide funding and welfare benefit advice as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including care providers and operational teams.

This is a public/customer-facing role with statutory English language requirements for public sector workers.

Additional note: This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.

Requirements

To succeed, you’ll demonstrate the following:

Skills & Qualifications

  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written).
  • High-level attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills, evidenced by:
    • GCSE grades 9-4 (A-C) in Maths and English or
    • relevant work experience as an alternative.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel), along with experience in:
    • Diary management
    • Task prioritisation
    • Problem-solving

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
