Finance Assistant
pawaTech is looking for a Finance Assistant with an inherent passion for teamwork and a collaborative spirit. As a part of our team, you will be responsible for supporting end-to-end financial operations across multiple entities, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant execution of finance activities while working closely with internal teams and stakeholders.
Compensation range: £25000 - £30000 annually.
NB! You MUST have a valid permanent working permit in the UK.
The role is fully remote.

What you’ll be doing
- Processing incoming invoices within 24 hours and following up with approvers
- Exporting approved invoices and preparing weekly payment runs
- Setting up and processing payments across relevant banking platforms, including urgent ad-hoc payments
- Managing tax-related payments and documentation in line with tickets and approvals
- Sending remittances, marking invoices as paid, and importing bank statements into systems
- Reconciling bank statements weekly, including petty cash and expense management (Xero & Soldo)
- Supporting payroll processing to ensure timely approval and payment
- Monitoring tax requirements and payment due dates to ensure monthly compliance
- Assisting the finance reporting team with month-end expense reconciliations and yearly audits
- Supporting the wider finance team with ad-hoc tasks and cross-functional projects

What makes you a great candidate
- A Bachelor’s (or postgraduate) degree in business administration, finance, accounting, and/ or equivalent experience in a similar role (2+ years)
- Strong Excel skills, including advanced techniques
- Experience or familiarity with accounting software
- Confidence working with multi-currency transactions
- A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities semi-autonomously
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- A collaborative team player who enjoys supporting team and company growth
Extra expertise we appreciate
- Experience working with mobile money providers and understanding payment flows
- Knowledge of applicable taxes and regulatory requirements across African markets
- Strong relationship-building skills and a reputation as a “go-to” person for finance-related queries
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality
