Job Details

  • Contract: Full Time, Permanent
  • Location: Homebased in the West Midlands, with attendance at the Birmingham office 2–3 times a month
  • Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
  • Salary: £25,000–£35,000 (dependent on experience)

The Role

As a Finance Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in cost control, ensuring leaders have accurate, insightful financial data for informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce clear, standardised monthly cost reports, breaking down spend by supplier, cost type, and employee.
  • Partner with Finance Business Partners to design new analysis and reporting tools.
  • Work with SAP systems to validate postings and ensure costs are coded correctly.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across VIVO, supporting a team of one Finance Assistant and one Finance Graduate.
  • Assist with:
    • Month-end journals
    • External reporting requirements
    • Ad-hoc analysis
  • Work alongside our data analytics team, enhancing knowledge of reporting systems and dashboards.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience

  • No formal qualification required, but:
    • AAT qualified (or part-qualified, ACCA/CIMA) applicants will be advantaged.
    • Experience in SAP is a bonus, but rapid system learning is essential.

Essential Skills & Attributes

  • Confident and collaborative approach, strong communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in Excel, able to:
    • Manipulate complex data
    • Present insights clearly and accurately
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to reliable work.
  • Homebased, but West Midlands-based with accessibility to Birmingham office.
  • Willing and able to pass BPSS clearance.
