Location: Head Office, Clare House, Gosport
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 FTE
Contract and Hours: Part time, 22.5 – 30 hours per week – We are open to various working patterns

We operate 124 sheltered flats for assisted living, all with 24 hour warden support, and a 44 bed care home offering residential care for frail elderly people and for those living with dementia.
We are now recruiting for a Finance Assistant to work closely with the Director of Finance and the wider management team.
You will play a key role in supporting our financial management, gaining experience across finance, purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control, resident accounts and finance administration.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to contribute to an organisation that provides valuable services to its residents and community.
As Our Finance Assistant You Will
- Process purchase and sales ledger transactions, including invoices, receipts and payments, ensuring accuracy and timely recording.
- Maintain supplier, customer, resident and financial records, resolving queries and discrepancies professionally.
- Support credit control activities, monitoring outstanding balances and assisting with income collection.
- Assist with bank, supplier and other account reconciliations, including petty cash and resident monies.
- Support the administration of resident personal accounts and expense records, maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.
- Assist with month-end, year-end and audit preparation activities, including the production of supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate data across finance systems and contribute to process improvements and efficiencies.
- Build positive working relationships with colleagues, residents, families, suppliers, local authorities and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies, financial controls, data protection requirements and confidentiality standards.
- Provide general finance and administrative support and undertake other reasonable duties as required by the Director of Finance.

In order to be successful in this role you must have:
- Previous experience in finance administration, purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control, accounts administration or a similar role.
- Good standard of general education with strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Confident use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information sensitively and professionally.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training and development.
- Ability to work between 22.5 and 30 hours per week and primarily office-based.

It Would Be Great If You Had
- AAT Level 2 or 3 qualification or willingness to work towards an agreed finance qualification.
- Experience within a charity, housing, care or not-for-profit environment.
- Experience managing resident accounts, client monies, petty cash or personal expense records.
- Experience supporting audits, year-end processes or payment runs.
- Experience using finance, housing, care or CRM systems.
- Strong Excel skills including formulas, sorting and filtering.
- Ability to identify and suggest process improvements.
Working Pattern
The final working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate, subject to operational requirements. Potential working arrangements include:
- 3 days of 7.5 hours
- 4 days of approximately 6 to 7.5 hours
- 5 days of approximately 6 hours
