Summary
Job Title: Finance Assistant Manager – Retail Transport Financial Reporting & Control Location: Bristol (Hybrid) Hours: Full-time (35 hours/week)
You’ll join the Central Finance Control and Reporting team (c.210 colleagues) to work within the Retail Financial Control and Reporting team, partnering with Retail Transport. As a key member of the 7-person Transport team, this role combines business partnering and financial accounting, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and SOX compliance. You’ll influence performance reports, statutory filings, and future initiatives while championing a data-driven culture.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Your role will be dynamic, blending business partnering with detailed financial tasks, including:

Reporting & Control:
- Maintain Retail Transport’s daily, monthly, and quarterly financial reporting, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant outputs.
- Deliver statutory accounts for Transport subsidiaries, collaborating closely with Retail partners and external auditors.

Financial Control & Compliance:
- Embed risk management to support a no-surprises control environment.
- Ensure strong adherence to SOX controls, IFRS standards, and legal entity requirements (including prior experience with LBG RSCA for internal candidates).
- Play a key role in influencing the Central Finance team through insightful reporting and strategic decisions.

Process Improvement & Automation:
- Champion continuous improvement in data quality and automation, e.g., past experience with Power Apps or equivalent suite is desirable.
- Partner with Platform teams to drive transformation projects.

- Foster a development-focused culture, contributing to broader team upskilling.
- Strengthen relationships across Group and subsidiary levels, ensuring partnerships deliver reliable and actionable financial insights.
Requirements
Education & Qualifications
- Eager to progress towardsa professional finance qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Financial accounting and statutory reporting experience is absolutely essential.
- A degree-level qualification in a relevant subject is a typical baseline, though experience can compensate.
Technical Competencies
- Hands-on experience with:
- Group reporting & control systems (Soft systems such as Molteni, Paste, or C2).
- Understanding of IFRS accounting standards.
- Familiarity with Power App suite or no-code automation tools is a ** strong bonus**, though not essential.
- Foundational exposure to SOX requirements (especially LBG RSCA frameworks for internal applicants).
Behavioural & Soft Skills
- Passion for finance with energy, a growth mindset, and a drive to lead by example, aligning with our group values.
- Strong communicator capable of influencing cross-functional stakeholders at all levels, blending clarity and strategic thinking.
