At Buro Happold, we're driven by a passion for creating a more sustainable and equitable world through exceptional engineering, design, and advisory services. We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our UK+ Finance team in Bath on a 6-month fixed term contract.
About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for someone at the beginning of their finance career, whether you've recently graduated, are studying AAT, or have gained some experience in an administrative, customer service, or transactional finance role. You'll play a key role in supporting our project teams through invoicing, reporting, and financial administration, while gaining exposure to a broad range of finance activities and building valuable commercial experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Raising and issuing client sales invoices accurately and on time.
- Supporting project teams with invoice scheduling and financial administration.
- Building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external contacts.
- Monitoring timesheet submissions and resolving any corrections required.
- Preparing and posting month-end accruals and prepayments.
- Undertaking first-pass reviews of business unit cost reports.
- Supporting Assistant Finance Business Partners with day-to-day activities.
- Providing cover for team absences where required.
- Assisting with ad hoc finance and administration tasks.

You'll ideally have:
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with colleagues at all levels.
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- The ability to follow processes and work to deadlines in a busy environment.
- Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook.
Desirable experience
While not essential, we'd love to hear from candidates who have:
- Experience working in an office, administrative, or transactional finance environment.
- Exposure to accounts payable, invoicing, or other finance processes.
- Experience using ERP systems such as Deltek Vantagepoint or Unit4.
Qualifications
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 5/6 or above, or equivalent).
- Currently studying towards AAT, or interested in pursuing a finance qualification.
