Finance Business Analyst
Manchester | Hybrid | 12-Month FTC | £45,000–£55,000
We're looking for a Finance Business Analyst to join a busy Finance Continuous Improvement team that's driving a major finance transformation programme. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and working closely with both finance and technology teams to make change happen.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. As the programme evolves, you'll help shape new ways of working, improve finance processes, and ensure the business is ready for change. If you enjoy working in fast-paced environments and aren't afraid to roll your sleeves up, you'll fit right in.
What you'll be doing
- Reviewing and improving finance processes, process maps and SOPs, helping to create consistent ways of working across the finance function.
- Gathering business requirements and supporting projects through the full lifecycle, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Analysing finance and operational data to identify trends, issues and opportunities that support better decision making.
- Working closely with finance, technology and project teams to understand business challenges and turn them into practical solutions.
- Helping ensure any system or process changes maintain the integrity of financial reporting and controls.
- Using AI tools where appropriate to improve efficiency, automate routine tasks and support project delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
