Role overview

Black Sheep Coffee is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and commercially astute Finance Business Partner to join our dynamic team. As a Finance Business Partner, you will business partner C-suite stakeholders within the business to drive growth across our shop network.

This is a highly commercial role, with limited month-end close responsibilities, and is suitable for someone seeking to demonstrate and develop their analytical and influencing skills in a fast-growing multi-site retail business.


Role responsibilities:

  • Business partner the Chief Growth Officer and their team on growing our shop network, principally by supporting the rollout of the franchise programme and appraising new sites
  • Build strong external relationships with our franchisees, becoming their trusted partner within the finance team. This includes presenting materials at franchisee inductions, reviewing franchise business cases and financing applications, and identifying opportunities to drive profitable growth
  • Own the franchise Four-Wall EBITDA methodology and monthly analysis, creating an accurate picture of franchise shop performance to help our corporate team identify key trends
  • Own the franchise forecast database model, containing details of our forecast pipeline of franchise shop commitments and progress against contractual targets
  • Prepare insightful month-end analysis and commentary on franchise performance and our new shop opening programme, including identifying risks and opportunities versus budget
  • Support the preparation of the monthly management accounts by reviewing all franchise related postings, and preparing some limited journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Lead the preparation of the annual franchise budget and periodic reforecasts, including owning all key assumptions, preparing output submissions, and presenting these to the Finance Director
  • Be the lead point of contact within the finance team on all franchise M&A activity

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Previous commercial finance experience, ideally within a retail, hospitality, franchising, or quick-service environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modelling, and AI for finance
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with senior stakeholders and external parties
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter and proactively drives the businesses growth agenda
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
