About the Role
Our client is a logistics business based in London, looking for an experienced Finance Business Partner to cover a short-term gap in the team on a three-month fixed-term contract. The cover is needed at short notice and there is limited scope for ramp-up, so this will suit someone who has run the FBP role enough times to read a new business quickly and get straight into the substance.
Responsibilities
- Inherit an existing portfolio and partner with the commercial and operational stakeholders behind it.
- Own the planning, budgeting, and forecasting cycles for your area.
- Take month-end through to a clear view of performance against plan, and be able to explain the drivers behind the variances rather than simply reporting them.
- Support commercial and operational decisions as they come up (pricing and cost recovery questions, business cases, the financial side of operational change).
- Act as a credible sounding board for non-finance managers who want to understand the numbers before they commit.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
