Strategic Business Lead – Lighting & EV
Location: Solihull (Hybrid – 1 day per week onsite)
Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract / Inside IR35
Salary: Up to £74,000 per annum (paid via Umbrella)
Duration: 6 Months
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Strategic Business Lead to support the leadership team in evaluating strategic opportunities across the Lighting and Electric Vehicle (EV) sectors. This is a highly visible role, providing commercial insight, financial analysis, and business case development to support key decision-making and future growth initiatives.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will help identify value creation opportunities, evaluate business performance, and deliver actionable recommendations that drive commercial success.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess strategic opportunities across the Lighting and EV markets.
- Develop financial models, business cases, and scenario analyses to evaluate opportunities and risks.
- Support business planning activities and strategic reviews.
- Translate complex data and analysis into clear, concise recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Evaluate the commercial viability of new opportunities and growth initiatives.
- Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and wider industry developments.
- Identify opportunities to improve business performance, profitability, and cash generation.
- Conduct targeted reviews of business processes and operational performance.
- Develop and support implementation plans for improvement initiatives.
- Track and monitor delivery against agreed business objectives.
- Partner with operational, commercial, and finance teams across the organisation.
- Support process mapping and continuous improvement activities.
- Identify and deliver value-creation initiatives relating to WIP, inventory management, working capital, and operational efficiency.

About You
We are looking for a commercially minded professional who can combine strong analytical capability with excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in strategic analysis, business improvement, consulting, corporate strategy, or commercial leadership roles.
- Fully Qualified: Cima, ACCA or ACA
- Advanced financial modelling and business case development skills.
- Ability to convert complex analysis into practical commercial recommendations.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing abilities.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working across operational, commercial, and finance functions.
- A track record of identifying and delivering measurable business improvements.
