Commercial Finance Business Partner - Sainsbury’s

Are you a commercially minded Finance Business Partner who thrives on influencing senior leaders, driving financial performance, and delivering strategic insights that shape business decisions across complex operations?

Are you looking to utilise your leadership to challenge the status quo, improve financial processes and reporting, and develop a high-performing team while partnering with key stakeholders and our customer to unlock business growth? Join us as our Commercial Finance Business Partner, for our customer Sainsburys.

Join our GXO's Sainsbury’s Transport Finance team as a Finance Business Partner, where you'll combine commercial insight with financial leadership to drive performance across key customer contracts. Partnering with senior stakeholders, you'll influence strategic decision-making, maximise profitability, and challenge the status quo to deliver continuous improvement. As a function we bring together the day to day commercial & financial running of transport with the strategic controls to maximise the value that we bring to our customer, and the wider group.

This is a full-time permanent opportunity, with 37.5 hours per week contracted. Core hours Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00 (with flexibility required for business needs). This is a hybrid opportunity working on site 3 days per week and can either be based in our Northampton (NN4 9BX) site or Sherburn in Elmet (LS25 6JH).

Pay, benefits and more:

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £70,000 per annum, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company car or car allowance to the value of £6,000 PA, private medical insurance, a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Influence key business decisions, providing strategic financial insight that maximises profitability and long-term value
  • Take ownership of financial performance across our major contract, bringing commercial rigour and expert understanding of contractual commitments
  • Act as a trusted partner to our customer and senior stakeholders, driving clear priorities and unlocking operational performance
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, KPI development, and reporting to enhance business visibility and support growth through championing continuous improvement across finance processes, reporting, and controls
  • Leading, supporting and coaching team for long term development (2 direct reports)

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Studying towards finalising or fully qualified in ACCA, CIMA, or ACA, with a strong foundation in management and financial accounting
  • Highly commercial and analytical, with the ability to turn complex data into clear insights that drive business performance
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience building relationships and driving outcomes across matrix organisations
  • Confident communicator who thrives on constructive challenge, continuous improvement, and making informed decisions in a dynamic business setting
