Finance Business Partner
Job Description: Finance Business Partner (FBP)
Location: London/Hybrid
Contract: 1-year Fixed Term Contract (FTC)
Salary: £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Job Purpose
The Finance Business Partner (FBP) will be the primary finance professional supporting Professional Services Departments, working closely with a cluster of Business Partners and reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner in the central Finance and Procurement Directorate.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Reporting
- Serve as the key interface between Professional Services Departments, central finance teams, and leadership for:
- Planning and preparing the School’s annual budget
- Forecasting
- Assist in reviewing, updating, and monitoring the School’s staffing budget
- Prepare monthly management accounts, budget statements, and commentaries
- Contribute to monthly budget holder reports (both internal and external)

Analysis & Oversight
- Combine quantitative, qualitative data, and statistical analysis to:
- Highlight key trends
- Provide insights to guide decision-making
- Evaluate alternatives against business objectives
- Maintain an updated Risks and Opportunities schedule against budget and KPIs
Financial Guidance & Compliance
- Provide advice and support to academic staff, professionals, and students on:
- Financial transactions
- School procedures and processes
- Train budget holders in:
- Financial management processes
- Agresso training (creating and updating materials as needed)
- Support month-end and year-end processes, including preparation of financial statements
- Ensure all financial statements meet deadlines
Strategic & Operational Support
- Review all new programme proposals from financial and operational viewpoints, including:
- Challenging assumptions and costings
- Ensuring finances reflect an accurate position
- Assist in developing business cases, including costs for new initiatives
- Drive process and performance improvement
- Provide coaching and leadership to stakeholders

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or part-qualified due to complete within 6 months
- Degree-level education
- Proven business-facing finance experience
- Strong history in:
- Budgetary control
- Financial analysis
- Management reporting
Desirable Skills

Knowledge of Agresso Business World and Pignent

Experience in capital planning

Experience in supporting complex multi-year projects
