Finance Business Partner
Location: County Durham
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Salary: Circa £90,000 plus benefits
About the Role
Newman Stewart is partnering with a major service-based organisation in County Durham to recruit a Finance Business Partner.
Our client is a well-established and highly regarded business providing essential services across a large and diverse customer base. Following continued investment and growth, the organisation is seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to support strategic decision making, operational performance and long-term business planning.
Job Summary
We are looking for a commercially focused Finance Business Partner to work closely with senior operational and functional stakeholders across the organisation.
Reporting into the senior finance team, you will provide financial analysis, challenge and insight to support decision making, budgeting, forecasting and business performance. This is a highly visible role requiring a confident finance professional who can build strong relationships, influence stakeholders and translate financial information into meaningful commercial recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with operational and functional leaders to support business performance and decision making.
- Provide financial analysis, commentary and insight to support strategic initiatives.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning activities for designated business areas.
- Challenge assumptions, identify risks and opportunities, and support performance improvement initiatives.
- Produce and present management information to senior stakeholders.
- Support investment appraisals, business cases and commercial evaluations.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Work closely with finance colleagues to ensure accurate reporting and robust financial controls.
- Support continuous improvement across financial processes, systems and reporting.
- Contribute to wider strategic and operational projects across the organisation.
Essential Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a Finance Business Partner, Commercial Finance, FP&A or similar role.
- Strong financial planning, analysis, budgeting and forecasting experience.
- Experience partnering with non-finance stakeholders and influencing decision making.
- Commercially aware, with the ability to translate financial information into actionable insights.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP and reporting systems.
- Right to work in the UK.

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience within a regulated, infrastructure, utilities, services or asset-intensive environment.
- Experience supporting large operational budgets and capital investment programmes.
- Exposure to business case development and investment appraisal activity.
- Experience driving financial and operational performance improvement initiatives.
